Here at Fabled Farms, we believe in learning by doing—sometimes with great success and other times with, well… a lot of gagging. Enter Selena, our latest recruit in the fine art of butchering quail. Now, if you’ve ever been elbow-deep in poultry processing, you know it’s not exactly glamorous. But Selena? She went in with the confidence of a warrior… and came out with a newfound respect for anyone who’s ever done this without dry heaving.
Armed with a sharp set of kitchen scissors, a deep breath, and a can-do attitude, she muscled through her first quail with sheer determination. Was it graceful? Not exactly. Was it effective? Well, let's just say the quail didn't complain. By the time she finished her first few, the reality of the situation set in, and Selena found herself in deep contemplation over the kitchen garbage can—offering up what can only be described as a heartfelt tribute to the experience.
Despite the… ahem… rough moments, she powered through and did an amazing job! And while she may not be volunteering for round two anytime soon, we’re proud of her for stepping up and getting it done. Farming isn’t always sunshine and fresh bread, folks—sometimes it’s a test of stomach strength and sheer willpower.

Speaking of quail, we’ve officially sold off the last of our quail chicks! As we shift gears toward hatching out chicken chicks for both meat and egg layers, we’ll be putting a little pause on quail production. BUT—if you’re still interested, reach out! We can always squeeze them in, and they only take about two weeks to hatch.
Next up in the incubator? Turkey eggs! If you’re looking to add some heritage turkeys to your flock, now’s the time to get your poults pre-ordered before they’re all spoken for! 🦃
Farming is always an adventure, and sometimes it comes with a side of nausea. But at the end of the day, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for the laughs, Selena—your sacrifice (and stomach) will not be forgotten!
